Graduate Entry Specializations

One of the unique aspects of our program is the number and variety of specialties available to students. Specialties are selected at the time of application to the Graduate Entry option. This approach enables students to pursue specific areas of interest from the beginning. Then, at the mid-point of the program, students take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for Registered Nurses (RNs). Eligibility for certification in the specialty area occurs upon graduation.

Given that you may have had little exposure to the field of nursing making the decision on your specialization can be somewhat difficult. We recommend doing significant research into these areas prior to applying. Start by reading about each specialty track through these links and then continuing your search online. If you have an idea of a few specialties in which you may be interested, pursue volunteer or shadowing opportunities with nearby healthcare facilities where these advanced practice nurses work. Exposure to a specific track can help to solidify your decision and can strengthen your application. We also offer a graduate nursing specialty quiz to get you started in your research.
