Application Process

Applicants from any major at Ohio State or students currently attending another college or university may apply while they are completing their prerequisite coursework at Ohio State or another college or university. Successful applicants are selected on the basis of their academic record and potential for success.

Application Review and Course Equivalencies:

All transfer credit will be reviewed by The Office of Professional Admissions for meeting prerequisite requirements. Each applicant is responsible for verifying that all the prerequisite courses taken (or planned) meet the College of Nursing’s requirements. With this in mind, it is important to correctly include all current and planned transfer coursework in the prerequisite summary on the HW application. The traditional HW program does not accept general (GEN), special (SPL), or technical (TECH) credit for prerequisite courses. Applicants that have been awarded GEN, SPL or TECH credit or have other deficiencies will be notified through the “To-Do List” in the Applicant Center, which is managed by the Office of Professional Admissions. The “To-Do List” will include further instructions.

Questions or concerns regarding your transfer credit should be directed to the Office of Professional Admissions at 614-292-9444. Please note the following:

  • Applicants will not be considered for admission if coursework does not meet the required direct equivalencies or if they do not meet all other admissions requirements.
  • The College of Nursing will not inform applicants of any unfulfilled prerequisite courses.

Admission Timeline

All required materials listed above must be submitted by the posted application deadline. Please allow up to five business days for the status of materials to be updated on your application status webpage. Any item still marked as incomplete by the deadline will result in your application being removed from consideration.

Once admitted, you will be given a short window of time to accept the offer. Newly admitted students to Ohio State are required to pay a $100 acceptance fee. This acceptance fee is not required for current Ohio State students.

You are not able to defer admittance. If you are unable to begin your studies in the term to which you applied, you will be required to reapply in the future.

For questions regarding our admissions process or requirements, please contact our Student Affairs team at nursing@osu.edu.
