Student Staff Support
The Office of Student Affairs, Equity and Inclusion employees of a team of student staff to serve as resources for their classmates and for prospective students to the College of Nursing.
- Student Ombudsperson
The Student Ombudsperson is a senior level student enrolled in the BSN program. The ombudsperson serves as an advocate for students and represents the undergraduate student body on the Undergraduate Studies Committee. Additionally, the ombudsperson helps in the development of special programs and coordinates the agenda for the Dean’s Advisory Council. All students are invited to participate in Dean’s Advisory Council. Information about this opportunity is shared with students in the fall. - Peer Advisors
The Peer Advisors are upper-class students enrolled in the BSN program. The peer advisors are trained by the professional advising staff and complete university required trainings for the management of FERPA protected information. The peer advisors meet individually with pre-nursing and nursing students to advise on course registration issues, assist in the selection of degree requirements such as the General Education curriculum and serve as representatives of the college at special events.
- Recruitment Student Assistant
The Recruitment Student Assistant is a current student in one of our graduate degree programs who assists our outreach and recruitment team by supporting communication with prospective students and hosting events. The recruitment student assistant provides a valuable prospective as a current student and can share their experiences as a student at the College of Nursing with future students and their families.
- Front desk staff
Our front desk student staff provide College of Nursing students and visitors with outstanding customer service and assist with daily operation of the Office of Student Affairs, Equity and Inclusion. They assist with scheduling advising appointments, respond to prospective student inquiries and assist professional staff with projects.
- Diversity, equity and inclusion student advocate
Housed within our companion Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the diversity, equity and inclusion student advocate aids in ODEI event promotion, planning and facilitation. They serve as a student representative on the College of Nursing Diversity Committee, and assist in designing and facilitating diversity outreach and recruitment events.
