INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the nation’s oldest and largest diversity-focused magazine and website in higher education, honored The Ohio State University College of Nursing today with its ninth consecutive Health Professions Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award.
The Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (aBSN) program is for individuals with a bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing field who want to pursue a career in nursing. Two current students, Alix Aboussouan and Meng Zhang, told us about their experiences in the program.
U.S. News & World Report ranks BSN program #4 overall for second straight year
U.S. News & World Report this morning released new rankings that, for the second consecutive year, place The Ohio State University College of Nursing’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program tied for #1 among public colleges of nursing and #4 overall in the United States.

Five-year project to examine parent presence and effects on infants
The National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NIH/NICHD) has awarded a five-year, $3.2 million grant to two faculty researchers from The Ohio State University College of Nursing’s Martha S. Pitzer Center for Women, Children and Youth to study the effect of parent presence and caregiving for infants in neonatal intensive care units (NICU).
The new LPN to BSN program at the College of Nursing was designed for LPNs to obtain their BSN. Three current students, James Williams, Toni Hall and Colleen M. Barrett, shared with us about their experiences in the program.
As wounded victims came pouring into the civilian hospital in Kharkov after the Ukraine war began in February 2022, Artem Riga initially was the only surgeon on duty. Some colleagues were fleeing the country and others were delayed because of the intense shelling. Doctors had to ration food and medical supplies, performing surgery in body armor, with sandbags on the windowsills of the operating room. A sudden attack significantly damaged his hospital and left patients covered in broken glass and other debris. Amid this chaos, Riga had to teach patients to care for their own wounds.
