We will collaborate with our university family to strategize about a plan to address racism in our midst and support change that must happen to ensure the equality, safety and opportunity that Ohio State represents for people of all races across our state, our country and our world.
– Dean Bernadette Melnyk
The events this past week in our country have been heartbreaking and stressful. Please know that our college’s executive team, our Chief Diversity Officer Angela Alston and Rachel Muredzwa, our Director of Equity and Inclusion, are here for you to lend care and support as you need it, so do not hesitate to reach out to us. Additionally, I want to remind faculty/staff of counseling resources available through our Employee Assistance Program. For students, our new mental health counselor, Shelby Woith, is available for virtual appointments.
Our college will continue to highly prioritize our core values of diversity, inclusion and equity along with the mental/emotional health and well-being as well as safety of our students, faculty and staff. We support the strong statement from the American Academy of Nursing and vow to use our leadership position in both academic and professional circles to affect meaningful change. Moreover, we will collaborate with our university family to strategize about a plan to address racism in our midst and support change that must happen to ensure the equality, safety and opportunity that Ohio State represents for people of all races across our state, our country and our world.
