Carolyn Schubert’s course recognized by Quality Matters

Carolyn Schubert’s Nursing 7480, Quality Improvement in Advanced Nursing Care, is the first online course in the College of Nursing and the fifth at Ohio State to earn the Quality Matters seal for quality assurance. Her course was reviewed by three peers who are experienced online teachers and course designers, including two nurses and one professor in the College of Education and Human Ecology.  After a rigorous review in which recommendations were offered and improvements to the course were implemented, Carolyn’s course met standards with a very high score.

One of the most impressive changes that Carolyn made to her course is the addition of video introductions to each module in Carmen. In those introductions, she briefly describes how the course material covered in previous weeks relates to the course material to be presented in the upcoming module and how each of the activities and assessments in the module will help the student meet the learning goals for the course.  She also includes general instructions and tips for completing the work in the module.
