We are building a brighter future in so many ways at the College of Nursing! Our new building, Jane E. Heminger Hall, is swiftly taking shape, and we are thrilled to be back on campus with our students once again. As I said to attendees at our third biennial national evidence-based practice summit in September, it is time to get back to dreaming again.
In this issue you can read about some of our amazing alumni who are making a difference in healthcare every day: renowned women’s health advocate Faye Wattleton; Connie Gallaher, the new president of Ohio Dominican University; and Denise Williams, Magnet Nurse of the Year.
Our students give us great hope for the future, too. You can read about Amanda Parker, who found new purpose in life in the Grad Entry program, and see what it was like for our students returning to campus this fall after a year away. Our new Health Equity Scholars initiative gives students mentorship and funds to pursue projects to improve health equity in our community.
We are dreaming of new discoveries and insights through our research. You can read details about projects supported by new grants (more than $12 million in fiscal year 2021) in “Grants Roundup” and get a glimpse into what motivates our research in “Publications with Passion.” As we welcome Distinguished Professor Diane Von Ah, we dream of building an outstanding cancer research hub.
There’s so much more in this issue, including our efforts to bolster student mental health and new virtual jogging trails. Please take excellent care of yourself, and keep dreaming, discovering and delivering!
Be well, and Go Buckeyes!
Fondly,
