A record number of College of Nursing faculty members from The Ohio State University have been selected for induction into the American Academy of Nursing (AAN) on Oct. 13, 2012. Study shows link between pre-pregnancy obesity and lower child test scores

Women who are obese before they become pregnant are at higher risk of having children with lower cognitive function - as measured by math and reading tests taken between ages 5 to 7 years - than are mothers with a healthy pre-pregnancy weight, new research suggests.

Lester, Davidson receive oncology nursing society awards

Two nursing professionals at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute with College of Nursing affiliation received awards during the ONS Annual Congress, sponsored by the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS).

Ford receives seed grant for adolescent health research

Jodi Ford, PhD, RN, assistant professor at The Ohio State University College of Nursing, has been awarded a seed grant from Ohio State’s Initiative in Population Research (IPR) for her study "Linking Biological and Social Pathways to Adolescent Health."

The Albert Schweitzer Fellowship (ASF) announced the selection of its 2012-13 class of Columbus-Athens Schweitzer Fellows—16 graduate students who will spend the next year learning to effectively address the social factors that impact health, developing lifelong leadership skills and living famed physician-humanitarian Albert Schweitzer’s message of service.

Melnyk receives 2012 MNRS Senior Scientist Award

With less than seven months’ tenure at The Ohio State University, Bernadette Melnyk, PhD, RN, CPNP/PMHNP, FNAP, FAAN, associate vice president for health promotion, university chief wellness officer, and dean of the College of Nursing, was recognized as a 2012 Senior Scientist by the Midwest Nursing Research Society (MNRS) at its annual conference.

Deborah Steward Alumni Distinguished Teaching award recipient

Deborah Steward, associate professor in the College of Nursing, has been named a recipient of the 2012 Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching. The prestigious award honors superior teaching by Ohio State faculty. A surprise presentation was made by Boehm and Griffin, president and CEO of the Ohio State Alumni Association.
