Margaret Graham, PhD, RN, FNP, PNP, associate dean for advanced practice and community partnerships and associate professor at The Ohio State University, has received the 2013 American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) Ohio State Award for Excellence.

During their senior-level "transitions to practice" course this semester, an Ohio State College of Nursing student team collaborated on a challenge-based learning project by creating a video that highlights evidence-based practices in determining retention and satisfaction rates among newly employed nurses.

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing recently awarded the Sister Bernadette Armiger Award at the association’s fall semiannual meeting in Washington, DC, to Carole A. A new national survey of more than 1,000 registered nurses suggests that serious barriers, including resistance from nursing leaders, prevent nurses from implementing evidence-based practices (EBP) that improve patient outcomes.

When survey respondents ranked these barriers, the top five included resistance from nursing leaders and nurse managers - a finding that hasn’t been reported in previous similar studies - as well as politics and organizational cultures that avoid change.

Timothy F. Landers, PhD, CNP, assistant professor at The Ohio State University College of Nursing, is one of just 12 outstanding nursing educators to win a competitive grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Nurse Faculty Scholars program this year.
