Clinical Interest
Dr. Linnea Fletcher earned her Doctorate in Education from Northern Kentucky University; her dissertation focused on fatigue in undergraduate nursing students. Her teaching strategies incorporate leadership principles and engagement in wellness for clinicians. Her dedication and passion for nursing education has been recognized by students and colleagues. In 2019, students honored her as Clinical Instructor of the Year, and in 2020 she was chosen to receive the Ohio State College of Nursing Outstanding Teacher Award.
Dr. Fletcher has been a registered nurse for over 20 years and is a Certified Emergency Nurse and a Trauma Certified Registered Nurse; she continues to practice clinically in the emergency department. Recognizing the importance of patient-centered, holistic practice, Dr. Fletcher completed a graduate certificate in Health and Wellness Coaching in December 2020.

The new LPN to BSN program at the College of Nursing was designed for LPNs to obtain their BSN. Three current students, James Williams, Toni Hall and Colleen M. Barrett, shared with us about their experiences in the program.
As wounded victims came pouring into the civilian hospital in Kharkov after the Ukraine war began in February 2022, Artem Riga initially was the only surgeon on duty. Some colleagues were fleeing the country and others were delayed because of the intense shelling. Doctors had to ration food and medical supplies, performing surgery in body armor, with sandbags on the windowsills of the operating room. A sudden attack significantly damaged his hospital and left patients covered in broken glass and other debris. Amid this chaos, Riga had to teach patients to care for their own wounds.
