Dr. Janis Brewer brings more than 20 years of experience in both online education and clinical practice to students and colleagues at Ohio State. She seamlessly integrates her teaching and clinical expertise to provide students with practical, evidence-based learning experiences. Her dedication to education and clinical excellence fosters the development of future family nurse practitioners capable of delivering high-quality, competent healthcare.
Dr. Brewer has taught courses including Advanced Health Assessment, Health Promotion and Advanced Nursing Practice. As a family nurse practitioner, she has extensive clinical experience in family practice, emergency medicine, pulmonary medicine and sleep medicine.
The Pennsylvania native holds a doctor of nursing practice degree from Carlow University in Pittsburgh, where her research concentrated on community health initiatives and hospital policy reforms.

New research shows that overall, the prevalence of adverse and positive childhood experiences reported by parents of teenagers hasn’t changed substantially in the United States in recent years.
The findings suggest that interventions designed to boost positive family experiences and shield children from negative experiences may not be hitting the mark on a national scale, the study’s authors say.
