Kassandra Elizabeth Cassady
When thinking of my dream for the next 5 years, a thought comes to mind that Dean Bern once said of "Nothing happens unless first a dream". What has been tried in the past has not been lasting, just focusing on physical and/or mental illnesses is not good enough for our patients. I plan to work with my patients, whether they be children and/or adults, to be the best person that they can be by forming lifelong goals. This is done by focusing those goals around being a WHOLE person. This is my dream! The whole person includes not only the physical and the mental, but also includes the social and the spiritual aspects. All 4 of these must be given equal importance because when 1 part is neglected, the person's life becomes unbalanced and they would suffer as a result of the imbalance. Starting out in my PMHNP career, I plan to work in a clinic or outpatient setting with plenty of psychiatric personnel support around me, to better refine my skills. Then possibly close to 3-5 years later, I will reevaluate where my skill set it and make further plans to carry on my dream. At that time I would either stay where I am or form my own practice, whatever it takes. How can this dream come to pass, you ask? With the added knowledge that I have received from The OSU college of nursing and the guidance of our Lord and Savior as we read in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me".
