Study Abroad in Cyprus

The College of Nursing has had an enormously positive response to a new study abroad opportunity in Cyprus, open to students of all majors: Global Sustainable Development Goals: A Focus on Health and Well-being. This program combines academic rigor, hands-on field trips and personal discovery to create an unforgettable month of growth, connection and adventure.

At the crossroads of civilizations, Cyprus is more than a destination; it’s a course syllabus brought to life. Cyprus becomes the students’ living classroom. The course, led by Chief Global Strategy Officer and Centennial Professor Dianne Morrison-Beedy, PhD, RN, CGNC, FFNMRCSI, FNAP, FAANP, FAAN, focuses on priority health issues facing young adults and provides insight into sustainable development goals from both current and ancient perspectives.

The month-long program takes place in May, when the weather is sunny and dry on the beautiful island in the Mediterranean, and offers global immersion experiences combined with lecture and seminars.

One student commented, “This program expanded my worldview and gave me confidence I didn’t know I had. It was the best decision of my college career.”

Another said, “I never imagined Cyprus would change my life – but it did.”

Students report feeling healthier, less stressed, able to navigate challenging times and a renewed invigoration for their studies and interactions with people. Importantly, they leave with a broader view of the world and their role in it, and many indicate their desire to travel and make the world a better place. That’s a month well spent.
