Commencement and convocation

Congratulations to all of our new alumni from the College of Nursing! On May 7, 2017, we awarded degrees to 549 students, including three PhDs, 13 doctors of nursing practice, 26 masters of applied clinical and preclinical research, four postmasters, 243 masters of science and 260 bachelors of science in nursing. Special honors and awards were presented the night before at the Convocation ceremony.

Study reveals risks of social smoking

A study by three College of Nursing faculty revealed that social smokers—those who smoke occasionally in social situations—are at the same risk for high blood pressure and high cholesterol as everyday smokers.

Online course provides advanced practice nurses compliance with House Bill 216

Advanced practice nurses (APRNs) now have an online option to comply with Ohio House Bill 216. The Ohio State University College of Nursing has developed two online courses: advanced pharmacology across the lifespan and advanced neonatal pharmacology. APRNs may choose the course that best suits their needs according to the population they serve.

Nursing students launch initiative to destigmatize mental illness

Tim Landers awarded Fulbright US Scholar grant

Tim Landers, PhD, RN, CNP, CIC, associate professor in the College of Nursing, is the recipient of a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Grant by the U.S. Department of State. Landers will be affiliated with the University of Gondar in Gondar, Ethiopia, from August 2017–May 2018.
