Wold Inducted as Fellow of the American Physiological Society

The American Physiological Society (APS) recently inducted Loren Wold, PhD, FAHA, FAPS, from The Ohio State University Colleges of Nursing and Medicine as a Fellow of the APS. APS states that the rank of Fellow is reserved for distinguished leaders who have demonstrated excellence in science, made significant contributions to the physiological sciences and served the Society. Wold is the first Ohio State faculty member to receive this distinction.

Wold serves the College of Nursing as assistant dean for biological health research and director of the college’s biomedical laboratory. He is also a professor of nursing and medicine in the department of physiology and cell biology, specializing in physiology and cell biology. Wold’s research is focused on environmental triggers of cardiovascular disease, specifically e-cigarette vapor and air pollution.

Founded in 1887, the APS aims to connect a community of over 10,000 scientists and educators to advance scientific discovery, understand life and improve health. The APS serves this community through 16 scholarly journals, a monograph book series, scientific conferences and science-smart public policy advocacy.

"It is an honor to be recognized by the oldest society in my field, and one that I have been active in since my years as a graduate student, beginning in 1998," said Wold. "Being the first Ohio State-recognized FAPS is an honor that I will cherish my entire career."
