  1. Hypertension/high blood pressure
  2. High cholesterol
  3. Diabetes
  4. Coronary artery disease
  5. Obesity

By participating in this study, you’re taking a proactive step towards a healthier and more supported caregiving experience. Let’s come together, learn and create positive changes for both you and your loved ones.

Thank you for considering this opportunity. We can’t wait to embark on this journey with you!

Warm regards,

Use of Head Mounted Display: Augmented Reality for Family Caregivers

Researchers at The Ohio State University College of Nursing are conducting an exploratory study with spouses or adult children who provide care to a family member with dementia.

Oftentimes, as the family member’s dementia progresses, the family caregiver becomes more isolated in the home setting. The aim of the study is to gather family caregiver perspectives on ways of using head mounted display – augmented reality technology for group activities with other family members. The findings will assist us in developing a future study on use of augmented reality technology.

All participants who agree to participate will be asked to complete questionnaires before the study starts. We will conduct focus group interviews of 6-10 family caregivers. If you are unable to attend the focus group, we can also schedule a one-on-one interview with you.

The total amount of time for participation (includes the informed consent, demographic questionnaire and the focus group interview) is 1.5 to 2 hours.

We will give you $20 gift card for participating in the study.

If you are interested in knowing more about the study and taking part in these sessions, please contact Judith Tate at 614-292-4907 or by email at tate.230@osu.edu.

Black or African American family caregivers who helped make care choices at end of life for a loved one with dementia

Have you been a family caregiver for a loved one who has dementia? Dementia is a brain problem that causes loss of memory, thinking, and taking-care-of-self skills.

We want to learn about the experiences of Black or African American family caregivers who helped make care choices at end of life for a loved one with dementia.

You may be able to participate in this study if you were a family caregiver who:

  • took care of a family member with dementia in the past
  • is 18 years of age or older
  • has lost their family member within the past three years
  • helped make end of life decisions for your family member
  • is able to speak/understand English to do the interview
  • is able to attend a one-hour one-on-one in-person, telephone or video interview

Interviews will be done at a local public location (such as a library) or by telephone or video call. You will receive a $25 gift card to thank you for completing an interview.

Dementia Family Caregiver Research Recruitment Registry

Researchers at The Ohio State University affiliated with the Golden Buckeye Center for Dementia Caregiving are developing a registry to give caregivers opportunities to be involved in caregiving research and to enhance recruitment of caregivers of people with dementia in clinical research.

Caregivers who use the Golden Buckeye Center for Dementia Caregiving resources have an opportunity to enlist in the Caregiver Research Registry and participate in studies where they are interested and eligible. Affiliated researchers will send research information and invitations to eligible caregivers enlisted in the registry. There is no obligation to participate in a particular study. You may leave the registry at any time without penalty or loss of benefits to which you would otherwise be entitled. You must complete this intake form and express interest in learning more about opportunities to participate in dementia and/or caregiving research if you are interested in participating prior to filling out the research registry consent form below.

If you are interested in knowing more about the research registry, please contact Emmett Narby, Research Technician, at 614-292-5012 or narby.1@osu.edu or Mary Beth Happ, PhD, RN, FGSA, FAAN, Principal Investigator of the research registry, at 614-292-8336 or happ.3@osu.edu.
