U.S. News & World Report ranks BSN program #4 overall for second straight year
U.S. News & World Report this morning released new rankings that, for the second consecutive year, place The Ohio State University College of Nursing’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program tied for #1 among public colleges of nursing and #4 overall in the United States.
The college’s BSN program ranked #10 overall and #6 among public institutions when U.S. News & World Report first started ranking BSN programs three years ago. This year’s rankings gathered judgments on academic quality from deans and senior faculty across the country to compare programs from 686 institutions.
“Maintaining our BSN program’s standing as one of the very best in the nation is only possible because of the hard work, dedication and purpose displayed every day by our students, faculty and staff,” said Karen Rose, PhD, RN, FGSA, FNAP, FAAN, dean and professor at the College of Nursing. “We strive to prepare confident, competent, evidence-based nurses who our communities need to handle the challenges of 21st-century healthcare. They are answering their calling to care, and we are privileged to help them in their journeys.”
The College of Nursing recently launched two new programs to expand access to its BSN degree track. The LPN to BSN Bridge track provides a clear pathway for License Practical Nurses to complete a BSN through academic instruction, clinical practice and direct support and mentorship from world-renowned experts. The Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (aBSN) is designed for individuals with a bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing field who desire a career in nursing. BSN students also benefit from engagement in virtual reality/extended reality (VR/XR) environments supported by the American Nurses Foundation’s “Reimagining Nursing Grant.”
Earlier this year, U.S. News & World Report ranked several of the college’s graduate- and professional-level degree programs and specializations among the nation’s premier tracks:
- Online Master of Science: #4
- Family Nurse Practitioner: #2
- Traditional Master of Science: #4 overall; #1 among public institutions
- Adult Gerontology Primary Care NP: #2 overall (#1 public)
- Adult Gerontology Acute Care NP: #5 overall (#1 public)
- Family NP: #2 overall (#1 public)
- Psychiatric/Mental Health NP: #6 overall (#2 public
- Doctor of Nursing Practice: #19 overall; #11 among public institutions
- Leadership: #4 overall (#1 public)
- Family NP: #6 overall (#2 public)
- Adult Gerontology Primary Care NP: #6 overall (#3 public)
The university’s online bachelor’s programs (for which the college’s RN to BSN comprises the highest enrollment) ranked #7 in the country.
