The Mary Wiedle Hamilton Advanced Health Assessment Simulation Laboratory

Room 082

A wide range of contemporary examination and diagnostic equipment exists for students learning to perform advanced physical examinations and diagnostic tests. The layout of this room is designed for students to practice in an environment that resembles a professional medical clinic that most students will experience in practice. This lab is equipped with a state-of-the-art computerized clinical information system, audio/visual recording equipment and observation glass to facilitate clinical patient simulations.

This room includes a portal to perform telehealth services. The College of Nursing incorporates telehealth across nursing curricula with innovative techniques, tools, strategies and learning environments to prepare students for the delivery of healthcare. Our commitment to telehealth has been based on the evidence that virtual delivery of care is correlated with improved access to care, positive health outcomes, cost savings and patient satisfaction. Using telehealth as a component of primary care, chronic care management and support for behavioral health has the potential to significantly decrease exposures and health disparities for individuals who have limited ability to access care, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
