Master of Science in Nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice, several specializations recognized for excellence
U.S. News & World Report released new rankings today on the nation’s best graduate schools in several disciplines, and once again, The Ohio State University College of Nursing’s programs rated among the country’s very best.
The college’s Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs were recognized for excellence in academic rigor and outcomes, with several specialization tracks singled out as top-five programs among public institutions. The rankings included:
- Master of Science in Nursing: #9 overall (#3 public)
- Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner: #5 (#2 public)
- Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner: #10 (#3 public)
- Family Nurse Practitioner: #11 (#5 public)
- DNP: #18 (#8 public)
- Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner: #3 (#1 public)
- Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner: #5 (#2 public)
- Administration: #6 (#2 public)
- Family Nurse Practitioner: #11 (#5 public)
This is the third consecutive year that the College of Nursing’s master’s program ranks in the nation’s top ten and that its DNP program ranks in the nation’s top 20.
“Across all three levels of nursing education, our college continues to set a standard for excellence driven by our world-class faculty, staff and students,” said Bernadette Melnyk, PhD, APRN-CNP, FAANP, FNAP, FAAN, vice president for health promotion, university chief wellness officer and dean of the College of Nursing. “We need outstanding, evidence-based, wellness-focused clinicians and innovative leaders to dream, discover and deliver what a healthier world looks like post-pandemic. Preparing our students to transform health and improve lives is our college’s calling.”
“Patient care quality and safety across the life-span counts on well-prepared nurses and clinicians,” said Cindy Anderson, PhD, RN, APRN-CNP, ANEF, FAHA, FNAP, FAAN, senior associate dean for academic affairs and educational innovation at the College of Nursing. “I continue to be inspired every day by dedicated faculty who motivate our students to learn, staff who support students’ academic progression and passionate students who develop confidence and resiliency to deliver the highest level of care to their patients.”
Back in January, U.S. News & World Report placed the College of Nursing’s online Master of Science in Nursing program #3 in the country and Ohio State’s overall online bachelor’s programs (including the college’s RN to BSN program) #4 in the country. It was the seventh consecutive year for the online master’s program to rank in the nation’s top six, and it was the fourth consecutive year for the online bachelor’s offerings to rank in the nation’s top four.
