Welcome Week: Sydney Symone finds purpose in patient care
For Sydney Symone of Toledo, Ohio, nursing is about connecting with patients and making a meaningful difference in their lives.
As part of our Welcome Week series, we’re getting to know the students who make up the Buckeye nursing community.
“I love the patient interaction, being able to help people and make a big impact in someone’s life,” she said.
At Ohio State, Sydney has found a community that has made her nursing experience especially meaningful.
“The best thing about Ohio State Nursing is the resources,” she said. “Also, I’ve loved my professors. The relationships I’ve gained here feel like they will be in my life forever.”
Some of her favorite memories include late-night study sessions with friends in Heminger Hall. Her career goals were shaped by a clinical experience at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute, which inspired her to pursue a position there.
For Sydney, those experiences have helped turn her passion for caring for others into a career she’s excited to begin.
