From clinical challenge to innovation
See how nurses and the Innovation Studio transformed a clinical challenge into a new invention.
Nurses are uniquely position to identify opportunities to improve patient care every day. Through the Innovation Studio at The Ohio State University College of Nursing, those ideas can become real-world solutions.
When clinical nurse specialists Karen Meade, Lindsay Ring and Barbara Potts recognized a challenge for patients managing urinary drainage bags while walking and moving throughout the hospital, they turned to the Innovation Studio for support.
With support and collaboration from the studio, the team transformed their idea into the B3 Buddy, a prototype designed to securely hold urinary drainage bags and support safer patient mobility.
The project highlights the power of interdisciplinary collaboration and demonstrates how nurses can transform everyday clinical challenges into innovative solutions that enhance patient care.
Watch the video to see how the Innovation Studio helped bring the B3 Buddy from concept to prototype and advance a nurse-led innovation.
