Program overview

A Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) provides patient-centered primary care across the lifespan, combining nursing’s holistic perspective with advanced clinical skills to manage acute and chronic conditions. FNPs work in diverse settings, including primary care offices, outpatient clinics, community health centers, hospitals, and public health agencies.

Ohio State’s FNP program is nationally ranked — No. 3 overall and No. 1 among public institutions by U.S. News & World Report. Students gain evidence-based, clinically rigorous training under expert faculty and preceptors, with hands-on experiences in community and hospital settings, preparing graduates to lead in today’s healthcare environment.
