CBL and IHIS Training Instructions
College of nursing students must complete clinical trainings at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
Computer Based Learning (CBL) modules and IHIS trainings are required for students completing clinicals at the Wexner Medical Center. These modules provide valuable information and knowledge as you begin your rotations.
To access and complete CBL/IHIS trainings, log into BuckeyeLearn using your Ohio State credentials (name.# and password). CBL/IHIS trainings are available to search once your med center affiliation is established. If you’re newly admitted to the nursing program, wait for directions from your instructors in regards to completing CBL/IHIS trainings.

Some of the modules listed below have different versions depending upon the role that a person has within the medical center. You should always select the clinical version.
Complete these trainings with the exact matching titles. We are tracking and retrieving your completion daily from BuckeyeLearn and synchronize the completion dates into Beacon.

IHIS
You can complete this requirement by completing a single curriculum: NEW IHIS NURSE: Nursing Student and Instructor.
This curriculum contains the following modules:
- Foundations
- Inpatient Daily Workflows
- Inpatient Advanced Workflows
- Inpatient Special Workflows
FAQ
The College of Nursing initiates the process to create med center accounts and IHIS access. Upon completion, you will receive your med center ID via email. This med center account triggers association with BuckeyeLearn and it allows you to search for the necessary CBL/IHIS trainings. Please wait until you receive confirmation that your med center account has been created before attempting to search for the trainings.
If you have your med center ID and the search doesn’t yield results, email us.
In order to update the completion date properly, choose 'request' from the training options. See the screenshot below for reference: screenshot of drop down menu option to request certificate completion.
All of the IHIS trainings are bundled into a single training titled 'New IHIS Nurse: Nursing Student and Instructor'. Search and register for the bundled training.
