Community Projects and Events Grant Program
Apply for funding to engage with local communities through special projects and events.
Students and student organizations
Students and student organizations may receive up to $500 per year academic year. Applicants must be a College of Nursing student in good academic standing or a College of Nursing student organization.
Projects or events will be assessed on the following criteria:
- Addresses a specific need of the community, particularly around the issue of health equity
- Promotes the health and well-being of the community
- Supports positive relationship building with the community
- Provides a tangible benefit to the community (e.g., services such as prevention screenings)
- Expenses are reasonable and justified
- Requests for up to $500 per award will be considered
- Funds may be used for items such as:
- Project/event supplies and materials (e.g., promotional fliers, ‘merch’)
- Participant incentives (e.g., food or gift cards)
- Participation barrier reduction strategies (e.g., transportation, childcare)
- Funds may not be used to support academic related student projects or research
Note: All projects are required to have at least one community partner.
All awardees must:
- Complete a brief post project/event evaluation 1-2 weeks after the project/event occurs (e.g., population(s) served, number of community members who participated, lessons learned, dollars spent)
- Develop an infographic highlighting results from the project/event, including a short summary of the project/event, along with relevant data). Free templates are available on Piktochart and Canva.
Faculty and staff
Faculty and staff may receive up to $1,000 per year academic year. Applicants must be a College of Nursing faculty or staff member.

Application process
Submit application*
- Fall deadline: November 15**
- Spring deadline: April 15**
Review
- Each applicant will receive an email confirmation upon submission.
- Applications will be reviewed by Community Outreach and Engagement staff.
- First-time applicants will receive priority.
Notification of award
- Applicants will be notified of the funding decision within one week of submitting their application.
*Be prepared to answer the following questions: name, description, date and location of project/event, community partner(s), social determinants being addressed, funding amount being requested, and budget justification.
**Applicants are encouraged to submit applications 2-3 weeks prior to the project/event to allow adequate time for purchasing supplies/materials.
