Research interests

  • gastrointestinal (GI) cancers, specifically colorectal cancer survivors
  • sociobiological mechanisms of symptom toxicity in GI cancers 
    • focusing on microbiome-brain-gut interactions, GI and psychoneurological symptoms in long-term cancer survivors, including multi-omics (genetics, microbiomes, metabolomics)
    • roles of race and SDOH on inflammatory fecal microbiota and symptom disparities
    • lifestyle behavioral interventions to manage long-term and late symptom toxicities for racial and ethnic minority population
  • hospice and palliative care for vulnerable cancer populations (gero-oncology, racial and ethnic minority cancer survivors) at home and in community settings
  • methods: big data analysis, machine learning, AI-based approach, quantitative research methodology
