A new, family-friendly experience for our Ohio State community. Bring the children (recommended ages 7-12) in your life for an afternoon of learning and exploration across the world of nursing.
What to expect
Enjoy hands-on, kid-friendly activities that showcase how nurses learn, lead and care for others. Families can visit interactive action stations featuring:
- Simple clinical skills (try hands-only CPR or learn about wound care)
- Health and wellness activities (mindfulness, hand-washing challenges, coloring)
- Innovation and technology experiences (VR and Innovation Studio demonstrations)
- Opportunities to explore nursing pathways and talk with Buckeye nurses
Your visit includes:
- Casual family lunch to kick off the day
- Giveaways for your children and/or grandchildren
- Additional surprises throughout the event
- Afternoon ice cream social
Cost
$30 per adult and $15 per child
Registration includes a buffet lunch, afternoon refreshments, multiple classes/sessions, parking, event giveaways, an event t-shirt for your kids and a priceless experience for you and your family.
Parking
Parking will be available in the 9th Ave. East Garage, Columbus, OH 43210. A parking voucher will be given to you at check-in.

- What are the age requirements?

We recommend that children be between 7 and 12 years old. Most sessions are geared toward a younger audience and may not hold the interest of those in junior high or high school.
- Can one adult bring more than one child?

Yes, however, each child must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
- Do we need to be Ohio State nursing alum to attend?

The program is open to all Ohio State alumni.
- How do we get around to attend the activities and sessions?

All activities/sessions are in Heminger Hall and Newton Hall. We will make every effort to provide mobility accommodation for registrants who provide advanced notice.
- Are there safety requirements for programs involving minors?

Yes. The Buckeye Nursing Discovery Day conduct and safety policies and procedures meet or exceed the Ohio State requirements regarding all programs involving minors. Adult registrants will accompany accompanying minor participants throughout the full day.
- Am I required to fill out medical or waiver forms to participate in this activity?

In accordance with college policy, each participant must complete and submit three consent forms prior the day of the event. Participants under 18 years old must have a Minor Child Participant form completed by parent or legal guardian. Consent forms will be provided to you by the College of Nursing after you have completed registration.
