Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Students who hold a non-nursing bachelor’s degree can fast track a career in health care.

Program overview

If you already hold a bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing field, Ohio State’s Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (aBSN) program offers a full-time, fast track path to nursing licensure. You complete the program in five consecutive semesters, including summers, combining coursework and clinical experiences prepare you to take the NCLEX-RN.

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must have the following to be eligible for admission:

  • A non-nursing bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
    • If you’re in the process of completing your bachelor’s degree, it must be conferred by the first month of beginning the aBSN program
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for all college-level work 
    • GPAs are reviewed by The Ohio State University Graduate and Professional Admissions

 

Eligibility restrictions

The aBSN program does not admit students who have earned a diploma or an Associate Degree in Nursing. Applicants with bachelor’s degrees earned outside of the United States are not eligible.
