Lynn Ahlers
Ohio State Nursing degree: 1981
Current role: vice president, Total Reward, Signet Jewelers
Professionally, I am proud of: Being able to influence the companies that I have worked for to add elements of wellness to the employee experience. What started as basic on-site screenings and prevention coverage through company-sponsored health plans several decades ago has expanded to standard offerings and core wellness programs at companies of all sizes. I’m particularly excited about how a “culture of wellness” is seen as a valued component of corporate culture and to see the expansion into financial wellness strategy.
Interesting fact: After focusing my MSN studies on corporate health promotion, in 1986 I transitioned from bedside nursing on the cardiac monitoring unit at University Hospitals of Cleveland to the corporate human resources function. While my role encompasses all elements of rewards, pay and benefits, I use my nursing knowledge, compassion and leadership skills every day to support the well-being of our team members and their families. I’m grateful for the Ohio State nursing educational foundation that I have built my career on.

Buckeye Wellness Tip
Commit to making one healthy lifestyle behavior change to prevent heart disease. Choose a healthy eating plan, one low in trans-fats and high in fruits, vegetables and fiber. Participate in at least 30 minutes five days a week of moderate intensity physical activity, such as brisk walking. Sit less, stand more as sitting three hours a day increases your risk for heart disease. Participate in biometric screenings and heart-healthy activities and events.
