Dear alumni, colleagues and friends,

Warmest of greetings from our terrific College of Nursing! This spring has truly been a time of great hope and new beginnings. Our college is making history by playing an important part in the COVID-19 vaccine rollout across Ohio, and a grant from the CARES Act is helping us launch several initiatives to care for the mental health of our university community. The fact that we continue to earn top rankings in the U.S. News & World Report ratings is no doubt due to the resilience, competence, innovation and can-do attitude of our outstanding students, faculty, staff and alumni.

Challenging or what I call “character-building” times can lead to new avenues for success. Virtual platforms allowed us to host the second biannual national Clinician Well-being Summit last fall and the IDEA Workshop, connecting with old friends and reaching new audiences. The Helene Fuld Health Trust National Institute for Evidence-based Practice (EBP) introduced a new EBP implementation toolkit. Our students displayed amazing resilience and resourcefulness, from a PhD research graduate assistant who logged on from across the country to a local undergrad who gave back by fostering a guide dog. Our alumni have been inspirational superstars, including those helping to distribute the vaccine and one who started a clinic to provide healthcare to rural children. You can read about all of these in this issue of Transformations.

I am very pleased to announce that our new building plans are right on schedule, and an exciting major gift to our new building fund is helping us to realize our dreams. We can still use your help to meet our goals for this building that will transform the future of health and improve lives.

I hope that all of you will keep dreaming, discovering and delivering as exciting new possibilities open out before us. We still have a way to go before the pandemic is over, so continue to protect your loved ones and build your own resilience. Together as Buckeyes we will prevail and be even stronger.

Best wishes and stay well!

Fondly,
