COLUMBUS, OHIO – Two faculty members from The Ohio State University College of Nursing were named by Columbus Business First to its 2020 “40 Under 40” list unveiled this week.
Timiya Nolan, PhD, APRN-CNP, ANP-BC, assistant professor, and Tim Raderstorf, DNP, RN, assistant professor of clinical practice and chief innovation officer, were chosen for the publication’s 28th annual list out of a record 391 nominations.
In his nomination of Nolan, Joshua Joseph, MD, from The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center recognized Nolan’s work to build partnerships that promote healthy communities, especially in the area of breast cancer survivorship and cardiovascular disease risk. “Dr. Nolan designed and evaluated educational programs for young women with a history of breast cancer, which were delivered in churches, support groups and online,” Joseph wrote. “She also is testing the feasibility and acceptability of a community-based lifestyle intervention aimed at improving healthful behaviors in African American men, in addition to serving the community by coordinating health education and screenings … Dr. Nolan’s presence in Columbus is helping us truly become a healthier community.”
Gary Sharpe, owner and chairman of the board for Health Care Logistics and a major supporter of the College of Nursing’s Innovation Studio, nominated Raderstorf for his dedication to democratizing innovation and making it accessible. “Tim has consistently developed ways to advance innovation and entrepreneurship,” Sharpe wrote. “In the past five years, he has founded four world-class programs impacting (Ohio State) and the greater community: 1. The Innovation Studio; 2. The Starting Line; 3. Healthcare Innovation and Entrepreneurship Workshop; and 4. Interprofessional Innovation Symposium. These programs have provided thousands of people with the resources to bring ideas to life.”

Decorated cancer researcher and educator assumes appointment today
The Ohio State University College of Nursing announced today that Diane Von Ah, PhD, RN, FAAN has earned the college’s prestigious Mildred E. Newton Endowed Professorship.
The professorship, named for the College of Nursing’s first dean/director, was established in 1966 and provides “support for the work of a distinguished teacher and scholar in nursing, nursing education and healthcare in the college.”
